What To Expect on California’s November 2024 Ballot

Although this is a big Presidential Election year, there are still many other important things on the California ballot that voters will need to be aware of.

What Will Be On the Ballot?

  • Statewide minimum wage of $18
  • Proposition 47 Reform: increased criminal penalties for drug abuse, retail theft, and other related crimes
  • Lower tax threshold for housing
  • MCO Tax Authorization
  • Local rent control
  • Healthcare spending: requires healthcare providers to spend 98% of revenues from federal discount prescriptions on direct patient care
  • Removal of involuntary servitude as a crime punishment
  • Repeal of Proposition 8
  • $10 billion Education Bond for modern construction of public schools and community colleges
  • Initiative Voting Requirements
  • $10 billion Climate Bond

What is No Longer On the Ballot?

  • PAGA: reform was withdrawn
  • Taxpayer Protection Act: ruled unconstitutional by California Supreme Court
  • California Children’s Services Program: changes to CSS eligibility requirements to cover life-saving speciality drugs was covered by legislative compromise 
  • Required personal finance course for high school graduates
  • Oil & Gas Well Referendum: prohibition of new oil and gas wells within 3,200 feet of homes, schools, and hospitals was dropped
